After a pest control exercise, following proper post-treatment precautions is essential to maintain the effectiveness of the service and ensure a safe, pest-free environment. At M&N Services, we provide detailed guidelines to help our clients sustain the results of our pest control efforts.
Below are the necessary steps to follow after your pest control service.
1. Return Kitchen Utensils Safely
The kitchen utensils i.e. plates, cups, cutlery etc should be returned back after at least two hours, the longer the better.
2. Apply Fresh Liners
Fresh kitchen or cabin liners should be applied, and the old ones should be discarded.
3. Leave the Pesticide Spray Untouched
The pesticide sprayed in the kitchen cabins should not be wiped off at all. When the spray dries, (after an hour) staff should simply apply fresh liners and return the utensils.
4. Remove Dead Roaches and Ants Properly
Dead roaches and ants should be swept out of the cabins after at least an hour with a straw broom. NB; do not clean them out with a piece of cloth as this will clean off the spray as well.
5. Avoid Cleaning Skirting Areas
The Pesticide sprayed along the skirting of the rest of the premises should not be wiped off as this provides a perfect breeding ground for roaches and ants in the cracks and crevices. The rest of the floor could be cleaned after at least an hour i.e. in the middle area.
6. Handle Rodenticides with Care
Rodenticides may have been placed in the dark hiding corners of the premises i.e. behind the cookers, fridges, beds, drawers, pantries, filing cabinets etc Please do not touch or expose them to water or dust as this will greatly reduce on their effectiveness and cause bait shyness by rodents.
7. Leave Rodenticides and Bait Boxes Untouched
Rodenticides or rodent bait boxes should not be moved, touched or taken away by non-authorized staff at all times.
8. Dispose of Dead Rodents Properly
If any dead rodents are identified, they should be picked up with the use of gloves and disposed off in pit latrine, buried or burned as soon as possible.
9. Schedule the Next Pest Control
The next pest control exercise should be done after three months from the last date. After the first two weeks, you should not be having any pest problem. If any, please call us and we arrange for a follow up of the problem areas at no extra cost.
10. Prevent Food Sources for Pests
- Do not leave food sources exposed overnight.
- Avoid leaving unwashed food containers overnight.
- Prevent food debris accumulation, especially in dangerous areas like under shelves, behind pantries, cookers, and refrigerators.
11. Manage Packaging and Rubbish
Dispose off all packing materials immediately.
12. Avoid Storing Food in Desks
Please do not leave food materials locked in office desks e.g. sugar, cakes and takeaways etc.
13. Maintain Storage Room Order
In store rooms, staff goods about 12 – 18” (0.3 – 0.5m) away from the walls to allow free access to the area behind for inspection and cleaning.
14. Maintain a Tidy Garbage Area
Keep rubbish storage areas tidy, using only close-fitting containers and emptying them regularly.
15. Avoid Eating at Desks
Don’t eat from the office desks.
Conclusion:
We will be grateful if the above recommendations are adhered to for a pestfree environment. We hope that you find our services helpful and we look forward to your continued business.
